The focus of the Church Partnership Officer role is to effectively collaborate within the Church Relations department in order to identify and position World Vision, U.S. for strategic growth opportunities with national Christian leaders, denominations, para-church organizations, and/or “mega” US churches who possess a combined annual congregational giving of $150K or more. This position will develop and manage relationships with pastors and/or key Christian leaders that call people to a life-changing commitment to serve the poor in the name of Christ. The Church Partnership Officer will help carry out World Vision’s Christian organization mission, vision, and strategies. The successful candidate will personify the ministry of World Vision by witnessing to Christ and ministering to others through life, deed, word, and sign. 

 

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study (e.g. Theology, Communications, International Development, Philanthropy/Development, Advocacy,etc.). A Master’s or Advanced Degree a relevant field of study is preferred as well as ongoing professional development in an applicable discipline. 

The background of the successful candidate would include work experience in Christian denominations, networks, or large mega Christian churches. Other pertinent experience would include: business to business sales (5+ years), business to consumer sales (5+ years), fundraising, sales, or consulting in which large churches were the targeted client (5+years), mission work with fundraising responsibilities (5+ years), or major donor fundraising with a nonprofit organization. Executive level staff experience with a mega-church would be a plus. Also desirable would be social justice advocacy or management consulting.

 

The ideal candidate will have a high degree of commitment to serve World Vision by properly stewarding the day to day operations required to maintain excellent relationships with current and future partnership churches. The Church Partnership Officer will be able to effectively manage high level accounts and complex partnerships. This person must be a master communicator, orally and written, who can effectively interact with people from other cultures, religions, geographies, and organizations. They must have a proven track record of achieving goals and exceeding expectations, a high-degree of decision-making skills and initiative, and an entrepreneurial spirit that’s always seeking to improve. They will demonstrate a knowledge of church history, the Bible and theology, and understand the difference between major Christian denominations.

 

The Church Partnership Officer will be located in Texas which is the second most populous state (after California) and the second-largest of the 50 states (after Alaska) in the United States of America, and the largest state in the 48 contiguous United States. Texas has an area of 268,820 square miles and a growing population of over 26.4 million residents. Houston is the largest city in Texas and the fourth-largest in the United States, while San Antonio is the second largest in the state and seventh largest in the United States. Dallas–Fort Worth and Greater Houston are the fourth and fifth largest United States metropolitan areas, respectively. Other major cities include El Paso and Austin—the state capital. Texas is nicknamed the Lone Star State to signify Texas as a former independent republic and as a reminder of the state's struggle for independence from Mexico. The "Lone Star" can be found on the Texas state flag and on the Texas state seal today.
