Chief Operating Officer

CRISTA Ministries, a 60-year-old nonprofit ranked as the third largest in the Seattle Area, has recently retained our executive search firm to assist in locating a Chief Operating Officer.

CRISTA is a family of seven vibrant Christian ministries with approximately 2,000 employees that fulfill its mission by demonstrating the love of God by serving people and drawing them into a transforming relationship with Christ. Located in Seattle, Washington, with a budget nearing $100 million, CRISTA is known around the world for its diverse professional ministries which are: World Concern, Christian Veterinary Mission, three radio broadcasting stations, continuing care retirement centers, King’s Schools, Seattle Urban Academy, and CRISTA camps (http://crista.org/). A corporate executive team and a 21 member Board of Trustees lead CRISTA Ministries.

Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Operating Officer will supervise and inspire a team of five ministry unit Vice Presidents responsible for more than two-thirds of the entire budget. He/She will provide expert guidance and leadership in goal setting, accountability and measuring the overall effectiveness of ministry leaders, and operations. This position supports the CEO and Board of Trustees by informing, advising, and making recommendations in matters of significance. The COO will work with the CEO to ensure timely and successful implementation of the Strategic Plan.

We seek a strategic individual with at least 10 years of experience at a significant management level, at least three of those years in guiding multiple units in a complex environment. The candidate will have experience charting the course in either nonprofit or commercial work, with a broad range of products or services. The ideal candidate will have been responsible for a budget of $20 million or more and a workforce greater than 200 people. It is expected the individual has worked on a national level and may have interacted on global issues. The selected person will be a strong executive leader who shares the values and conviction of CRISTA’s ministry.
