Job Description:

World Vision US has recently retained our executive search firm to assist in locating a National Director of Global Philanthropy.

Founded in 1950, World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization serving the world’s poorest children and families in nearly 100 countries. World Vision enables the world’s children to realize their God-given potential by tackling the root causes of poverty. The US organization raised more than $1 billion in 2013, which was given worldwide for five need areas: food and water, healthcare, education, economic development, and emergency relief. World Vision US, located in the Seattle Area with 1,000+ employees, is the largest fundraising arm of World Vision International (WVI), one of the world’s largest charities.

Reporting to the Vice President of Philanthropy, the National Director is responsible for the relationships and philanthropic mega gifts given by individuals, family trusts, and foundations. These funds are generated in support of the half-billion-dollar “For Every Child” campaign and the microfinance mission of WVI. World Vision’s International Economic Development/Microfinance Mission currently has in excess of $400 million in small loans making possible self-sufficiency for hundreds of thousands of people who live in poverty. In this position, the National Director will oversee all policies and practices, working with mega donors with the capacity to give $1 million or more. Will supervise a team of mega donor specialists. Individual portfolio work will be expected.

We seek an individual with at least 20 years of organizational experience in either nonprofit or for-profit. The ideal background would be working in fundraising with high-net-worth individuals, trusts, and foundations. Knowledge of economic development and microfinance will be a plus. The selected individual will have supervised a team of five or more and demonstrated a sizable budgetary responsibility. The successful candidate will be a strong, spiritual and executive leader who shares the passion and conviction of their mission.

Compensation is comparable to other nonprofits and includes a solid benefits package. This is an outstanding career ministry opportunity with a premiere, worldwide, Christian humanitarian organization.

If you are aware of anyone with whom you feel we should be in contact regarding this opportunity, please communicate with Dwayne Foote directly (dfoote@lwfoote.com). All referrals will be held in strict confidence.
