Principal (Administrator)
Job Description
The purpose of this position is to advance the ministry of Christian education through visionary and effective leadership of the staff, faculty, and students. The person filling this role must be a mature Christian leader who is an experienced and competent administrator and educator with teaching experience. Under the general direction of the school board, the principal is responsible for the overall operation and development of a private preschool through grade 12 Christian school in Soldotna, Alaska. This is a salaried position. Compensation will be in accordance with the pay scale.
Professional Qualifications
To maintain accreditation, the position requires a Master’s degree with preference to those with administrative or supervisory experience in an educational setting who values Christian education and the integration of faith and learning. The individual must demonstrate a high degree of skill in organizational administration, management, and supervision. He (she) must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrate honorable Christian character, be bondable, and able to attain Alaska teacher certification to satisfy the requirements of the school’s accrediting body.
Personal Qualifications
The most important personal qualification is the acceptance of Jesus Christ as personal Savior and a life that reflects spiritual maturity and intimacy with God. He will be an individual whose life is lived out as a humble Christ-like example at home and in the community. He must have a passion for Christian education, and necessary leadership experience. The person must have a record of effectively working with, and leading teams of educators and staff. The person must be a problem solver who can engage appropriate parties in the development and implementation of solutions, and be someone with strength as a visionary manager. The principal will have strong interpersonal skills and an agreeable personality. Personal integrity is of the utmost importance, along with the ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality.
