OVERVIEW:
Responsible for enabling the gospel to be shared through audio, video, lighting and art installations. This position oversees all planning, maintenance, and execution of production related elements of Sunday gatherings and special events. They must be a proven leader, and be able to shepherd, train, and lead all production volunteers with passion, wisdom, and care.

 

A. Objectives
The Director of Production & Technology is responsible for enabling the gospel to be shared
through audio, video, lighting and stage design. This position oversees all planning,
maintenance, and execution of production related elements of Sunday gatherings and events.
 
B. Areas of Responsibility and Associated Actions
 
Responsibility #1:
Strategy and Planning – Sunday Gatherings and Events
 
BIG IDEA:
Coordinate with Director of Worship/Communications to help produce all Sunday service elements with quality and consistency.
•Input, schedule, and update contact info in Planning Center for production volunteers
•Coordinating all Sunday production deliverables with the appropriate persons
•Plan, design, budget, and execute new AVL projects
•Big picture planning, stage design, seating flows, and stage layout
•Install and set-up new campaign elements from plans provided by the Director of Worship/Communications including Sundays and special events
•Plan end-to-end production support and budget for any special events, striving for a high level of excellence; create proposals, timelines, and detailed execution plans
•Plan, manage all video/audio content while managing storage within approved budget
 
Responsibility #2:
Tactical Execution – Sunday Gatherings and Events
 
BIG IDEA:
Serve as producer for Sunday gatherings and special events to create an
“invisible” experience for the congregation/leaders and ensure that all events are
staffed by trained and capable production volunteers.

•Ensure the event flow is executed on time and everything is in the right place
•Ensure all production staff/volunteers understand their role during a service
•Capture sermon or event content for video editing and distribution
•Support special events with high-level production execution and capture, following plans and keeping production within scope
•Fill in and work various production/tech positions as need arises
•Backup all video/audio digital content while managing storage
 
Responsibility #3:
Tactical Execution – Maintaining the Worship & Technology Environments
 
BIG IDEA:
Replace, repair, and upgrade gear that is in need of service, not functioning
properly, or not meeting Doxa’s needs
 
•Maintain the production department budget
•AVL support and trouble shooting in offices, classrooms, and foyer spaces
•Vendor management - printers, production equipment, etc (making sure to include management team in expenses over $200)
•Maintain a detailed inventory list of all production gear including maintenance schedule, service schedules, physical location, asset tag, and check-in/out system
•Test technical gear at recommended intervals (or sooner)and perform room tunings
•Lock up the sanctuary/production spaces on assigned days using the daily lockdown procedures
•Make improvements to all the rooms the production department supports
 
Responsibility #4:
People Development – Shepherding of Volunteers
 
BIG IDEA:
Manage/shepherd all people serving in production towards devotion to Christ, commitment to Doxa Church and its ministry strategy, and unified support of all staff and leaders.
•Identify, train, and develop new people to serve in production
•Create standard operating procedures for all positions
•Shepherd, disciple, and encourage all people serving in production
•Ensure everyone serving in production is resourced with what they need to succeed
•Ensure that all production volunteers are actively participating in a Missional Community
•Meet regularly with key leaders serving in production for prayer, counseling referrals etc.
 
Responsibility #5: 
Process Improvement – Events and People
 
BIG IDEA:
Establish feedback loops that value and honor your volunteers, maintain communication between staff leaders and those in support roles, and actively improve the production cycle in our weekly rhythms.
•Schedule and run production debrief meetings following any event with the staff to
discuss things that went well and things that can be improved upon for the next event
•Communicate regularly with volunteers that may be affected by new projects or
decisions made at the staff or management team level
•Provide volunteer feedback to the Director of Worship/Communications
•Meet regularly with key leaders serving in production to identify operational pain points
and work toward solutions, including technical training

C. Key Deliverables
1.Sermon video and sermon links posted to appropriate distribution channels
2.Audio/Video recordings and projects as assigned (interviews, testimonies etc)
3.Production gear master inventory list (including recent batch purchase)
4.Planning Center matrices for volunteers scheduled at least 60 days out
5.Event support proposals, budgets, and execution timelines
 
D. Success Measures
•Fully staffed volunteer teams that are healthy, shepherded, unified, motivated, that have
documented processes for each tech position for training and quality execution. All
volunteers to be in rhythms of discipleship as defined by Doxa elders
•Consistent quality in AVL, cue execution, and transitions during Sunday gatherings and special events
•Balanced production department budget and appropriate spending
•AVL installation projects and campaign elements finished on time and within budget
•Quality sermon video/audio capture and podcast distributed (no disconnects or disruptions)
•Engagement in staff activities and a consistently contributing team member
