Job Description:

The Salem Web Network (SWN) is seeking an online editor in our Richmond, VA office.

Editor, Christianity.com

Reports to:

Executive Editor, Salem Web Network

Description:

This person will be responsible for producing and managing the content of the Salem owned website Christianity.com, as well as become a regular editorial contributor to other Salem owned web properties such as Crosswalk.com. As an online editor, you would assist in the selection of appropriate material for inclusion on the site, as well as writing, editing and posting articles. Daily duties will include interfacing with freelancers, ministry leaders and other content providers, formatting and uploading articles, and helping to collect and edit material for our email newsletters. You will also help us build Christianity.com’s library of online resources and contribute to the editorial vision of our team.

Qualifications:

• Solid writing and editing skill vital for this position. Candidate must also demonstrate the ability to craft compelling headlines.
• Must be a self-starter, highly organized and detail-oriented, with a strong work ethic.
• Ability to demonstrate editorial innovation and creativity.
• Must understand evangelical Christian user’s interests, behavior, and core values.
• Conversant in theology and socio-cultural issues impacting the Christian Church, with the ability to interact with corporate and religious communities.
• A bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, or Communications (or equivalent experience) is preferred.
• 3-5 years experience working in a related field.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and general internet practices.
• Experience writing and editing on deadline is a plus.
