Being called and gifted by God, this person shall:
- Partner with our Senior Pastor, staff, and ministry volunteers to create a worshipful atmosphere that includes music, scripture reading, prayer, silence, and art
- Model and lead heartfelt worship in an invitational style – that draws people in, encourages participation, and points people to Jesus
- Plan Sunday worship services, choosing music that engages our congregation and supports the preaching of God’s Word
- Plan and coordinate special services following the church calendar and the needs of our congregation
- Recruit and teach musicians in the church to serve the congregation with musical skill and humility
- Lead rehearsals that: a) prepare for Sunday; b) cultivate Christ-centered community
- Serve as a member of the ministerial team at Berkeley Covenant Church, demonstrating a commitment to this congregation and its mission
- Lead or oversee children’s choir and band
- Take an active role on staff, participating in the community life of the church
Practical Duties
- Coordinates weekly worship teams (PPT, sound, communion, musicians)
- Maintains CCLI license(s)
- Organizes and maintains sheet music, chord charts, musical equipment
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in music, theology, or related field a plus
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience leading worship services (preferred)
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Proficiency in at least one musical instrument and vocals
- Knowledge of diverse music styles (traditional, contemporary, multi-lingual)
- Ability to work collaboratively with others
- Ability to effectively lead and engage a congregation in worship
- A passion for worshiping God in all aspects of life
Position Details
- Part time position: 15-20 hours per week
- Compensation: $35,000-$40,000 annually
